Is Your Selfishness Holding You Back?

There was a point in time where I had to face the facts and realize that the way I was living wasn’t going anywhere. All my life I had so many people who loved me so much that they did everything in their will to help me when I needed it most, they did everything in their power to make my life easier and I took advantage of them. I didn’t deserve it but that didn’t stop them from giving me what I needed to get by.

After coming to the truth of what I was doing and the person I had become, this overwhelming feeling of shame came over me, compelling me to take a step back and realize what I had been doing wasn’t just wrong but immoral. I only lived for myself and myself only, it was me against the world and nothing anyone would say could sway me or my decisions. The same people who would bend over back for me were the same people I would walk all over, always taking but never giving back in return. Selfish!

The more I took from people the less I really had, because I got so caught up in taking from others I never really learned to do things on my own. I got comfortable getting everything basically handed to me and I never really needed to work for it cause I knew I could just get it from someone else, which still brings me shame even to this day.

Every time I would start something on my own I never put 100% into it, or I’d start at 100% but eventually it was always maybe 60-70% in the end and I would never see it through to the end because WHY? I was living for myself. I’ve come to realize that whenever we do things for ourselves yeah we might get some gratification or satisfaction for it but unless we have others behind us pushing us through it’ll never come to pass.

It wasn’t until after I had saw what kind of person I was that I knew a change had to happen. Family is suppose to be the ones you can always count on, the ones who should be given the most respect to, cause they are the ones who have shaped you to be the person you are today and to be selfish & disrespect them would be insulting on your part. That shows no love or empathy for one another.

I knew I had to put in the effort to make a change, because when I see my parents I see two individuals that I think derserve more than I can give. They have given me so much that nothing I do ( In my eyes) will ever be good enough, I want them to have a life without stress, without having the need to ever work again in their lives, to have everything in life to be as comfortable as they can be. That’s what drives me to do everything humanly possible to make that dream a reality for them.

Once I put others needs instead of just living for myself, a drive deep down inside me began to takeover and now finally I’m taking the steps to make their lives easier and I don’t see myself slowing down anytime soon. I would rather work 24/7 to make it happen just so that one day I can see a smile on their faces. The moment you realize the kind of impact you can have on other people believe me, if you truly love and care for them there is nothing that can stop you from accomplishing whatever you set out to do, all you have to do is look within yourself make that necassary change and just DO IT!

If you’ve made it this far just know that I love you and I know great things are going to happen in your life you just have to stop being selfish and re-evaluate your priorities and live your passion. Let money be a product of what makes you happy and you’ll truly find happiness in life I believe that to be true. Go out and be happy you already have the tools to do it!

My Top 5 Vegan Protein Powders

If you’re active either in the gym or just in your daily life then protein is essential to promote muscle growth and is a necessary part of all living organisms. But choosing the right kind of protein can be a little overwhelming because of just how many there are and more being released every year.

Picking the right one for you can be a little tricky because not everyone is the same, depending on each persons diet currently the amount of protein you intake can vary. If your like me and are lactose intolerant then the standard protein you get practically everywhere can cause you major bloating and even worse the nastiest booty-bombs. Believe me if I take just any ole protein powder then I would suggest just stay away from me for the entire day cause it’s not going to be pleasure AT ALL.

So for me and probably many others the amount of vegan protein out there has been on the rise in recent years, putting a stop to (and in my case) the uncessary bloating and has decreased the booty-bombs in so many (me including). Again not everyone is the same so you’re going to have to experiment with what best suits you but I have compiled a list of my top 5 vegan protein powders so that you get the proper amount of daily protein needed for you to sustain muscle mass.

Orgain– 21g of protein, 150 cals, 15g of carbs, 5g fiber, 0g of sugar, 20 servings.

KOS– 20g of protein, 160 cals, 8g of carbs, 3g of fiber, 3g of sugar, with added BCAA’s and anitoxidants, 30 servings.

Vegan Smart– 20g of protein, 160 cals, 15g carbs, 6g of fiber, 5g of sugar, 15 servings.

Garden Life– 15g of protein, 160 cals, 4g of carbs, 2g of fiber, <1g of sugar, with added BCAA’s, 19 servings.

ON– 24g of protein, 150 cals, 7g of carbs, 2g of fiber, 1g of sugar, 19 servings.

All have their own unique flavors and blends each catering to everyones specific needs & tastes. I have personally tried all of these and to this day Orgain is my all time favorite but what I like isn’t necessarily what everyone will like so as I said you’ll have to experiment to find what best suites you.

Each has their own benefits so you won’t have trouble finding what you need to aid in your daily protein consumption. I hope this post has helped you in considering the best course of action for your specific need. Happy lifting cheers!

Heavy Weight v.s. Light Weight

Ever since I could remember my thought of the typical gym rat were these big muscular dude lifting as much as possible and I couldn’t believe the kind of stress those guys were putting on their body everyday, day in and day out. But what was it all for, to be top dog, to show everyone around how big your you know what is, maybe it was all just for the attention. Could it actually be for that self satisfaction you get knowing you have surpassed a new level of your physical capabilites? I had always wondered this when I was just starting out in the gym. All of that heavy weight had to take a toll on your joints at some point right? I mean you couldn’t possibly continue on that path without some kind of either joint or muscle damage, right?

My biggest fear with lifting heavy weight is that I lift too heavy and cause a serious spinal injury to myself YIKES! There has to be a way where I can acheive my optimal muscle growth while preserving both my joints and muscle tissue. That’s when I began to focus on not how much weight I can lift but how I lifted. Sure you can lift some heavy weight but if your entire body is stressing trying to assist whatever muscle you’re trying to focus on then you’re just doing more harm then good. I first practiced getting my form right making sure I was concentrating on the specific muscle group, going slow and feeling each rep out. Once I got my form just right then that’s when I began to increase the weight little by little never exceeding what I was physically capable of.

Not to say lifting heavy is a bad thing, its just that like most things it’s good in moderation. I felt whenever I began to plateau with my regular routine of course I would throw in some heavy days just to mix it up a bit just so my body wasn’t adapting to the same routine. Your body is a smart machine once it adjusts to a certain workout, lets say you’re doing the exact same workouts everyday there comes a point where you stop getting the benefits from the workout and all your time is wasted. I’d hate to know that all the work I put in at the gym would be meaningless.

All in all, to those of you just starting out before you go and snap some shit trying to be Superman take it slow and perfect your form making sure you’re isolating each muscle group independently and once you’ve got the form down increase the weight by small increments. Then once in awhile throw in some heavy lift days, not to the point of injury but to where you’re not sacrificing form for the added stress on your body. And soon enough you too will walk through the gym doors as top dog, strutting your stuff like its nobodies business.

Getting Started…

When it comes to routine getting started in anything can sometimes be overwhelming. Starting something new and challenging can be daunting at times but I’ve come to find out that it’s those things that are hard and overwhelming that will bring you that most satisfaction in life. Most people that tend to take the easy route in any situation tend to be the most average. They enjoy the easy route because it’s the route of least resistance. But to me going through life always failing and learning from your mistakes, basically going through the ringer produces those individuals who are far above average. Everyone on Earth has within themselves what it takes to be far superior than what they think they are capable of. All they have to do is get out of their comfort zone and fail. Failing is apart of life, no one person is perfect nor are they safeguarded from the harsh reality we live in. It’s all about how you deal with the challenges your facing and your ability to overcome those challenges, is whats going to propel you to become that strong, fierce, and confident individual I know you can become. Believe in yourself, wipe away all the doubt that enters your head on a daily basis and you are sure to conquer whatever goals you have set for yourself.

Once you begin to remove that doubt in your head telling you, your not good enough just quit or it’s not worth it. Then you’ll be able to hear that lone voice saying “keep going”, “you’re almost there”,”you’re closer than you think you are”. Thats when you’ll be able to acheive the greatest goals in your life. I hope you realize how amazing you truly are and what you’re actually capable of doing, stop being complacent and just do it.
